Meet the Nordic Wine Cozy Crochet Pattern—a beautifully textured crochet wine bottle cozy that’s perfect for Christmas gifting… and honestly, for any time you want to make a bottle of wine feel extra special.
I made this cozy last Christmas when I was putting together gifts for a few of my husband’s coworkers. I didn’t want to just hand over a bottle—I wanted it to feel personal, thoughtful, and festive. So I grabbed my yarn, played around with a few stitch combos, and then I tried the Celtic Weave stitch… and that was it. I loved how the stitch looked—elegant, clean, and kind of modern.
They turned out even better than I hoped! I made a bunch in different colors, added cute little Christmas tags, and each wine bottle cover looked so unique and classy. Everyone appreciated them!
If you have those hard-to-shop-for people on your list—neighbors, coworkers, family—wine is always a safe bet. But when you add a handmade wine bottle holder or wine bag like this, it becomes a gift that feels extra thoughtful and special. Plus, it’s a fun little project to make!
Let’s explore this delightful pattern!

Yarn Recommendation for this Modern Crochet wine bottle cover
This pattern uses #4 weight yarn, and if you can, I recommend going with cotton yarn. The stitch definition is amazing, and it gives the wine bottle cover a clean, polished look and feel. Just make sure it’s on the softer side. Some cottons can be a bit stiff, which makes them harder to work with.
For the featured wine tote, I used Hobby Lobby’s I Love This Cotton, and I love it. It’s super soft, easy to crochet with, and the color options are gorgeous. That said, cotton blends and even acrylic yarns can work nicely too. The cozy in the photo below, for example, was made with acrylic yarn, and it turned out beautifully!
