Beautifully Textured Crochet Washcloth: Free Pattern

Looking for a simple yet beautifully textured washcloth crochet pattern? This free pattern is easy to make, beginner-friendly, and perfect for gifting or selling. With its soft, thick texture and delicate edging, it’s a must-have for any handmade bath essential collection.

Two textured crochet washcloths along a side, a soap, and flowers.

The design features a simple one-row repeat stitch that creates a gorgeous texture while keeping the pattern beginner-friendly. It works up quickly and looks amazing in both solid colors and variegated cotton yarns.

Speaking of yarn, 100% cotton yarn is the best choice for crochet washcloths. I used a #4 medium-weight cotton yarn, which gives the perfect balance of softness and thickness.

What I love most about Rosie’s Washcloth is how versatile it is. You can easily adapt this stitch pattern to create matching kitchen and bathroom essentials, or even expand it into a cozy blanket or scarf. It’s also a great project for using up leftover yarn.

How to care for your textured washcloth

I simply toss mine in the washing machine with like colors and fabrics using the gentle cycle, and I like to use a mesh laundry bag—it helps prevent any snags or stretching.

For drying, I usually air-dry by laying the washcloth flat on a clean surface and letting it dry naturally. Once it’s dry, I sometimes give it a quick tumble on low heat to freshen it up and restore its shape. It looks and feels like new again every time!
