Step 1- Crochet the base
Make a magic circle, CH 1.
Rnd 1: 6 HDC in the circle, join with SL ST into the 1st HDC, CH 1. (6)
Rnd 2: 2 HDC in each ST around, join with SL ST into the 1st HDC, CH 1. (12)
Rnd 3: *2 HDC in next ST, HDC in next ST,* rep *to* around, join with SL ST into the 1st HDC, CH1. (18)
Rnd 4: *2HDC in next ST, HDC in next 2 ST,* rep *to* around, join with SL ST into the 1st HDC, CH 1. (24))
Rnd 5: *2 HDC in next ST, HDC in next 3 ST,* rep *to* around, join with SL ST into the 1st HDC, CH1. (30)
Rnd 6: SC BLO in every ST around (30). Do not join the round. From now on, crochet continuously all rounds.
Close the magic ring by pulling the tail tight. Secure with a couple of knots, then weave in ends.
Step 2- Crochet the body
Crochet continuously all rounds.
Rnd 7: *(SC, DC) in next ST, skip 1 ST,* rep *to* around. You should have 15 (SC, DC) groups.
Rnd 8 : *(SC, DC) in next SC, skip next DC,* rep *to* around. You should have 15 (SC, DC) groups.
Rnd 9 – 32: Rep Rnd 8. 15 (SC, DC) groups.
Rnd 33- 40: SC in every ST around. (30 ST)
Rnd 41: *SC in next ST, skip next ST, 5 DC in next ST, skip next ST, * rep *to* around, ending with skip next ST, SL ST in next ST, fasten off.
Step 3 – Finish the tote
- CH 120 to make a string. Secure the ends with a couple of knots, then cut the yarn.
- Use the crochet hook to thread the string through Rnd 32, one cluster at a time
- Attach the tag using the same yarn and a tapestry needle.
Weave in all ends, attach a tag, and you are all done!
