Step 1 – Crochet the coaster

With a 4 mm hook, make a magic circle, CH1,

Rnd 1: 10 HDC in the circle, join with a SL ST into the 1^st HDC, CH1. (10 HDC)

Rnd 2: YO, insert the hook in the same ST, pull up a loop, YO, insert the hook in next ST, pull up a loop, YO, pull through all 5 loops, CH 1,* YO, insert the hook last ST, pull up a loop, YO, insert the hook in next ST, pull up a loop, YO, pull through all 5 loops, CH1,* rep * to * around, join with a SL ST into the 1^st ST, CH1. (10 clusters)

Rnd 3: SC BLO in every ST around, join with a SL ST into the 1^st ST, CH1. (20 SC). Your work will be a bit wavy here, but it will straighten out at the end.

Rnd 4: Rep Rnd 2. (20 clusters)

Rnd 5: Rep Rnd 3. (40 SC BLO)

Rnd 6: Rep Rnd 2. 40 (Clusters). Change to a 3 mm hook.

Rnd 7: RSC in each ST around, join with a SL ST, fasten off, cut your yarn.

Close the magic circle by pulling the tail tight, then secure it with a couple of knots. Weave in and cut all ends.

Step 2 – Crochet the curly cues (make 2)

• With the contrast yarn and a 4 mm hook, CH 11, 3 SC in the 2^nd CH from the hook,* 3 SC in the next ST,* rep *to* across. Do not cut the yarn yet.
• Attach the curly cue to the coaster with an SL ST into the last ST of the coaster, fasten off.
• Weave in ends, and you are all done.
