Looking for a quick and festive crochet project that’s beginner-friendly, fun, and practical? You’re going to love the Jolly Ornament Cover – truly the easiest crochet Christmas bauble ornament pattern out there! Made from a simple rectangle using a basic stitch, it’s wrapped around a plastic bauble for an adorable handmade touch that’s perfect for the holidays.

This easy crochet bauble cover is a great way to personalize your Christmas décor, whip up thoughtful last-minute gifts, and use up all those leftover yarn scraps. I made mine with a bold, variegated yarn and added a little ribbon for extra flair. I ended up crocheting a bunch for my daughter’s teachers and coaches (and kept a few for myself, of course!) – they got so many compliments!

The best part? You can customize it with any yarn weight, fit it to any size bauble, and even switch up the stitch if you want.

What You Will Need to Create This Boho Crochet Christmas Bauble

Yarn: Any yarn weight

The best thing about this easy crochet Christmas bauble cover is how flexible it is—you can use any yarn you have, whether it’s bulky, lightweight, or something in between. Just adjust your hook size and starting chain to fit your bauble (I’ll explain how to do that below). For a soft, delicate look, go with lightweight yarn. If you want something with more texture, try worsted or bulky yarn.

And when it comes to colors, anything goes! I used a pretty variegated yarn that gave my bauble a vintage feel, but solid or bright festive colors work just as well.

Plastic Bauble Ornament (Any Size)

Besides picking out a gorgeous yarn, you’ll need a plastic bauble to complete this easy crochet ornament cover. You can find them in all sizes at craft stores or online—Amazon has plenty of options.

For this tutorial, I used a simple 4″ clear plastic bauble, but if you have a different size, no problem! I’ll show you how to adjust the pattern to fit whatever bauble you have. Just make sure the bauble has a removable cap with a hanging loop.
