Free fall crochet coaster pattern – beginner-friendly project using leftover yarn. Create textured, festive coasters perfect for Thanksgiving table decor, autumn home decoration, and handmade holiday gifts

Want to bring some cozy autumn vibes into your home? This free crochet coaster pattern is the perfect little project! The coasters are practical, quick to make, and such a fun way to use up leftover yarn.
I made mine with mercerized cotton, and I love how crisp they turned out. The stitch definition is amazing, and that subtle shine gives them an extra festive look. But don’t worry if you don’t have mercerized cotton—any medium-weight yarn will work beautifully.
This beginner-friendly pattern creates textured coasters that are perfect for Thanksgiving tables, thoughtful handmade gifts, or simply adding that special homemade touch to your fall decor.

Crochet the coasters
With a 4 mm hook, make a magic circle, CH1,
Rnd 1: 10 HDC in the circle, join with a SL ST into the 1st HDC, CH1. (10 HDC)
Close the magic circle by pulling the tail tight, then secure it with a couple of knots.
Rnd 2: (2 HDC BLO) in each ST around, join with a SL ST into the 1st HDC, CH1.(20 HDC)
Rnd 3: *(HDC, CH1, HDC) BLO in the next ST, skip next ST,* rep *to* around, join with a SL ST into the 1st HDC, CH1.(20 HDC).
Note: The fabric may curl or wave slightly here – it will flatten out at the end.
Rnd 4: * (2 HDC, CH1, 2 HDC) in next CH1 space,* rep *to* around, join with a SL ST into the 1st HDC, CH1.(40 HDC)
Rnd 5: *(3 HDC, CH1, 3 HDC) in next CH1 space,* rep *to* around, join with a SL ST into the 1st HDC, CH1. (60 HDC). Fasten off.
Weave in ends, and you are all done!

I would like to make these pretty coasters but I have one question ❓ I don’t know what BLO means in 2 hdc BLO ?
BLO stands for “back loop only.” So when you see 2 HDC BLO, it means you’ll work two half double crochets into the back loop only of that stitch (instead of under both loops).
This pattern was so much fun. Quick and easy. I loved it. Thank you. Now off to make them in so many more colors.
Thank you, Cathy! I’m so glad you enjoyed it 💕 Can’t wait to see all the colors you make!
