This gorgeous 2-color crochet blanket pattern features an easy 2-row repeat and endless color options—plus no ends to weave in! The free pattern includes 8 sizes, step-by-step instructions, and tips to customize it just the way you like.

Meet the most beautiful 2-color crochet blanket pattern – the Magnolia Blanket! This easy crochet blanket features a 2-row repeat gorgeous starburst stitch—a simplified version of the Harlequin or Catherine Wheel stitch—that adds beautiful texture and charm to your throw.
The best part? You can use two colors (or more!) without ever cutting the yarn between rows, so there are no ends to weave in—YAY! I’ll show you exactly how that works inside the pattern.
This beginner-friendly free crochet blanket pattern works beautifully with any of your favorite #4 worsted-weight yarns and is finished with a delicate border that complements the design perfectly.
This pattern includes eight different blanket sizes—from a cozy lapghan and a comfy throw to a sweet baby blanket. I’ve also included the stitch count for the repeat and step-by-step instructions, so you can easily customize it to fit your needs.

I made this Magnolia lapghan for my mom after her surgery, using her favorite colors to lift her spirits, brighten her room, and keep her cozy. She loved it. I truly enjoyed making it, and I’m sure you will too! 💕

- Skill level: Easy to intermediate.
- The pattern is written for a lap blanket. Check the sizing chart if you’d like to make a different size.
Special Stitches
- Chainless single crochet foundation: Slip knot and CH 2, insert your hook into the 1st CH, *YO and pull up a loop (two loops on the hook). How to adjust the size of your blanket
This pattern is written for a lap blanket. To make a different size, make a multiple of 6 + 1 chainless foundation to your desired width, then crochet to your desired length, ending the last 2 rows with the same color you started with.
You can also pick a size from the sizing table, use the foundation chain count indicated for your chosen size, crochet to the row number specified for the desired length, and then follow the pattern as written.

- In the last ST, YO with the working yarn and insert your hook. Pull up a loop (3 loops on the hook). YO with the working yarn, going under the contrast yarn, and pull through 2 loops (Pic 1).
- YO with the contrast yarn and pull through the last 2 loops to finish the stitch (Pic 2)
- Turn your work. Insert your hook in the first stitch. YO with the contrast yarn, going under the working yarn (Pic 3). Complete the stitch and drop the working yarn. Keep your tension a little loose when you change colors.

Step 1- Crochet the throw
Row 1: With yarn A, crochet a 121 single crochet chainless foundation. CH 3, 2 DC in same ST, *skip next 2 ST, SC in next ST, skip next 2 ST, 5 DC in next ST,* rep *to* across until 3 ST remaining, skip next 2 ST, 3 DC in last ST (change to yarn B in the last DC, drop yarn A), CH1, turn.
Row 2: (Yarn B), SC in 1st ST (crochet over yarn A in the 1st ST, see note in previous page),*CH 2, DC5tog, CH 2, SC in next ST,* rep *to* across, CH3, turn.
Row 3: (Yarn B), 2 DC in 1st ST, *skip next 2 CH, SC in next ST, skip next 2 CH, 5 DC in next ST,* rep *to* across, ending the repeat with 3 DC in last ST, change to yarn A in the last ST, drop yarn B, CH1, turn.
Row 4-87: Rep row 2-3, alternating yarn A and B every other row, ending the last row with 6 DC in the corner. Crochet the border next. Note: You should end with an odd row number worked with yarn A.
Note: A full photo tutorial is available in the premium version of the pattern.

Step 2- Crochet the border
Rnd 1:
- With yarn A still on your hook, [*SC in next row, skip next row, 5 DC in next row, skip next row,]* rep *to* to corner, 6 DC in the corner.
- Crochet along the foundation chain. *skip next 2 ST, SC in next ST, skip next 2 ST, 5 DC in next ST,* rep *to* to corner, 6 DC in the corner. Tip: Crochet into the 3 loops of the foundation stitches instead of just the top 2 loops.
- Crochet up the edge: Rep [to] to the corner, 3 DC in the corner already holding 3 DC, join with SL ST into the 1st DC, CH 1, do not turn.
Rnd 2: (Crochet Loosely) SL ST BLO in each ST around, join with SL ST into the 1st ST, fasten off.
Weave in all ends, and you are all done!
